It's Easy to Kill the Health Bill

Posted: March 26th, 2010

I have to wonder what all the fuss is about? Yes, I get that about half the population believes the "Health Care" bill is a constitutional violation and takes us even closer to bankruptcy. The bond market is already showing signs. But really, it's quite simple to kill the health care bill -- All you need to do is not participate.

Don't buy insurance, and refuse coverage from your employer. It's that simple. For the vast majority of Americans, it makes financial sense too. Happily pay the fines, which are much cheaper than an insurance policy will cost you. The beauty is that if you wind up getting sick you can purchase insurance right away and they can't deny you or charge you more for your condition. This is called adverse selection in the insurance business.

This is a built in self destruct mechanism for the health care bill. I can't help but wonder if it's not intentional, as a path to single-payer socialist health care.
